Fear of flying

Interesting.

Last night I was thinking of a topic for Fridays discussions on @Qualityhunters – a twitter/blog/youtube-and more joint venture PR-stunt with Vanta Airport in Helsinki and Finnair. Second year to go.
They choose 7 ”Qualityhunters” that have the mission to travel around the world looking for the things that Finnair customers would look for. Why do I get irritated of this and that, what can be done better?

Good intention.

Everybody that have been on an airport, on a charter flight, or traveling regularly for business, have opinions. We are people. Every person is an individual. I like juice, some like shots.

Flying by air is no different from taking a bus, essentially. It’s infrastructure. You pay for the basics – airports, road to the airports, transportation.

But flying is also a experience, no matter if you are professional or leisure traveller. There is a lot to it: planning, tickets, going to airports in advance, waiting, be humble in ques. In short, know your place.

All is about getting somewhere you either have to go to or have a sometimes long wish to go to – The Louvre. Toscana, Taj Mahal, or whatever.

We had already talked much about the airports, lounges, wi-fi, free or fare and more.

But. I know some people that have a fear of travelling. I.E. – going on aircrafts, So I wanted to know how spread this fear is.
I think it is a bigger problem most think.

The topic was sent out as the Todays Topic, probably in lack of other topics, but that is the PR-professionals intuiton…

Immediately peoply start talking about scary experinces. Me too. Scary air strips, funny landing spots.

I know, from being married to a psykologist, that kind of tales probably come from early experiences, funny now, probabaly scaring at the time.

      Thanks fpr the comment!
And yes, I know, the community CAN be interesting if you skip the corporate BS, which you have.
      Good thing, there.
You know, this kind of thing is what I do for a living… :-)
